Greetings, Pio friends!

The Alumni Council was delighted to welcome six new, enthusiastic and energetic members to our first meeting in September! So I’d like to start this message by publicly welcoming Larry Birkett ’88, Eric Gehrke ’00, Emily Gillingham ’20, Sandy Montes Gruber ’10, Mary Reynhout ’86 and Lauren Ruff ’07 to the Council, and to thank them for their time and commitment. Joining the Alumni Council is a terrific opportunity to support the Institutional Advancement team by fostering alumni engagement with the university, working to increase the university’s visibility among alumni and the wider community and facilitating the exchange of ideas between alumni and Carroll University. If you are interested in learning more (and reading profiles of the council’s members), check out the Alumni Council page.

Although the council has only met twice so far this year, we have been busy behind the scenes and recently completed selecting the annual Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. They will be recognized at the awards ceremony and dinner on April 24, 2025. Thanks to Distinguished Alumni Award committee co-chairs John Harrits ’76 and Randy Kunkel ’80 for their leadership through the awardee selection process. Watch this space for an announcement in the coming months!

Finally, the council is geared up for GivingTuesday, right around the corner on Dec. 3. This year, the council will again be celebrating the spirit of giving by using our voices and our networks to support Carroll. We invite you to be part of this journey by contributing to programs that enhance the Carroll experience. Your support can help provide scholarships, upgrade campus facilities and so much more. Together, we can ensure that Carroll University continues to lead in higher education, creating an environment where students are inspired to create, lead and make a lasting impact.

Please watch your inbox, social media and the GivingTuesday page for ways you can participate, and we will #CUonGivingTuesday!
